Cutvey vs. Better Proposals for video production companies

Better Proposals is a proposal tool, and a well-made one. Cutvey is the operating system the proposal lives in: the same document builder, then the project, contract, deposit invoice, crew, review and delivery that a signature is supposed to start.

Where Better Proposals is strong

Credit where due. Better Proposals has a clean five-step build (details, cover, content, send), a big template marketplace, a polished web document with a signature block, and readable analytics on who opened what. If all you need is a nicer-looking quote with an e-signature, it does that job and does it well.

Where it stops

It stops at the signature. Better Proposals has no CRM, no contacts or projects, no calendar, no crew, no review, no delivery and no invoicing. A signed proposal is a PDF in your inbox and a one-off Stripe charge; everything after that is another tool and a lot of retyping. Follow-ups are a paid add-on. Recurring billing is a hand-off to a Stripe plan. Password protection, commenting and approvals are Enterprise-only. Custom domains mean uploading a PHP file to your own server.

Cutvey covers the whole of Better Proposals' ground, with a proposal composer rebuilt in September 2026 around the same five-step flow: a new-proposal screen, a money screen with grouped tables, packages, add-ons, client-set quantities and choice groups, a cover picker, a live editor with a content library, merge tags, section drafts and hidden pricing, and a send screen with a link, a schedule and a follow-up ladder. Then it keeps going: the signature creates the project, the contract, the deposit invoice and the payment schedule, and the client gets an intake form, a booking step, a portal, timecoded review and a delivery page that unlocks when the final invoice is paid.

Your clients, in their language

Cutvey renders the client-facing proposal, contract, invoices, portal, review, booking pages, delivery pages, every client email and every PDF in 41 languages, chosen per client or per document: English (US and UK), French (France and Canada), Spanish (Spain and Latin America), German, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Dutch, the Nordics, all of Central and Eastern Europe, Greek, Turkish, Ukrainian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Arabic, Hebrew and Farsi on the web. The studio side stays in English. Better Proposals translates the document chrome into 30 languages; Cutvey translates the whole client relationship.

Switching from Better Proposals

Your proposals are documents, so they move as content: paste each section into the Cutvey composer once, save the paragraphs you reuse to the content library, and save the whole thing as a template. Your pricing tables become rate cards. Your clients keep signing from a link with no account, the way they did before. Most studios send their next proposal from Cutvey the same week; hands-on migration help is included on Studio and Enterprise plans.

Frequently asked

Is Cutvey more expensive than Better Proposals?

Per seat, yes: Better Proposals' Premium plan is about $249 a year and Cutvey Solo is $49 a month ($39 on annual billing). But Better Proposals is one tool in a stack. Cutvey replaces it together with the CRM, the invoicing, the call sheets, the review tool and the delivery service you would buy around it.

Are Cutvey proposals legally binding contracts?

Yes. A Cutvey proposal carries terms, a clause library and an e-signature that records the signer, time, IP address and document hash, with a signed copy emailed to both sides. Signing creates the contract; you do not send a second document.

Do my clients need new accounts?

No. Clients read, sign, pay, review cuts and download files from links, in their own language, with no signup.

Can I try it before switching?

Yes. 14 days free, full product, no card. Send one real proposal through it before you move anything.
