What you get
Cutvey becomes a connector inside ChatGPT or Claude. Once it is connected, your assistant can read most of what you can see in your workspace and do much of the everyday work you would do yourself: add and update leads and clients, draft and edit proposals, invoice drafts and change order drafts, log time and expenses, and set up projects with their tasks, shot lists, schedules and call sheet details. Everything it does runs as you, inside your workspace, never with more access than your own seat, and every change is recorded in your activity log as done by you via the assistant.
Before you start
You need three things: a Pro, Studio or Enterprise workspace (a trial of one of them counts), a team seat on it (crew seats cannot connect an assistant), and a ChatGPT or Claude plan that lets you add connectors. If you are not sure whether your plan does, look for Connectors in that app's settings.
Step 1: Copy the address
The connector address is the same for everyone:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Connector URL | https://app.cutvey.com/api/mcp |
| Authentication | Sign in with Cutvey (handled for you) |
You can also copy it from inside Cutvey: Settings, then Integrations, then the card named Your own AI assistant.
Step 2: Add the connector in Claude
Open Claude's Settings, choose Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the address above and continue. Claude registers itself with Cutvey and sends you to Cutvey to sign in. Menu names can differ slightly between Claude's plans; the address is what matters.
Step 2: Add the connector in ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT's Settings, choose Connectors, and add a connector with the same address. ChatGPT sends you to Cutvey to sign in, the same way Claude does.
Step 3: Approve the consent card
Cutvey shows you exactly what the assistant is asking for: the workspace it will work in (pick one if you belong to several), what it can do, and what it cannot do. Reading is always on; tick the groups you want it to have: Sales (leads, clients, proposals and templates), Money drafts (invoice and change order drafts, time, expenses, budgets and bookkeeping) and Production (projects, tasks, plans, schedules and call sheet details). Approve and you are sent back to your assistant with the connector live. To change the groups later, disconnect it and connect again. If you are not signed in to Cutvey, sign in with your usual emailed code first; you come back to the same card afterwards.
Step 4: Try it
Ask something you would ask a good office manager. A few that work well on day one:
| Ask | What happens |
|---|---|
| Who owes me money right now? | Your outstanding invoices, with amounts and due dates |
| What is shooting in the next two weeks? | Shoot days, deadlines and meetings from your schedule |
| Add a lead for Meridian Coffee, contact Dana, budget around $15k | A new lead in your pipeline, source marked as the assistant |
| Draft a brand film proposal for that lead with a two-day shoot and an edit | A draft proposal in Cutvey, with a link to finish it in the composer |
| Draft an invoice for the unbilled time on the Meridian project | An invoice draft in Cutvey for you to check and send |
What it can and cannot do
It can read most of what you can see in your workspace, including people's names, emails and phone numbers, and, in the groups you tick, add and change leads, clients, proposals, templates, rate cards, invoice and change order drafts, time, expenses, budgets, bookkeeping entries, projects, tasks, shot lists, locations, cast, gear, schedules, call sheet details and calendar events, and archive and restore clients, proposals and projects. A proposal, invoice or change order it creates is a draft, and an edit to a proposal you have sent waits until someone on your team publishes it. Everything else takes effect at once and shows wherever it is already shared, such as a call sheet or a shared moodboard, and a teammate can be notified of it, such as a task assigned to them, as if you had done it.
It cannot send anything (no email, proposal, invoice, change order, call sheet or reminder); sign or accept anything, or do what a client does on their own page; publish changes to a sent proposal; create money owed, or pay, refund or void an invoice; book crew or change what anybody is paid; delete anything (it can clear a field or replace a list it is editing, such as a proposal's lines); change your billing, your plan, or any setting beyond rate cards, a new email automation saved switched off, a music license record and the list of addresses you email without tracking; add a picture, a video or a file; or open or read your files. Those actions do not exist on the connector, so no prompt can reach them. Anything it drafts waits for you to send it.
Managing and disconnecting
In Cutvey, Settings, then Integrations, then Your own AI assistant lists every assistant connected to the workspace, who connected it and when it last worked. Disconnect revokes its access immediately; the assistant will ask you to connect again if you want it back. Archiving a teammate's seat disconnects their assistants for them.
Troubleshooting
The consent card shows an upgrade note instead of Approve. The workspace is on Solo or Free, or its trial has ended. Connecting an assistant is included in Pro, Studio and Enterprise; upgrade in Settings, then Plan & Billing, and try again.
The assistant says Cutvey is not connected or asks me to sign in again. Access was disconnected in Cutvey, or your seat was archived. Add the connector again from your assistant's settings.
It connected to the wrong workspace. Disconnect it in that workspace's Integrations, then connect again and pick the right workspace on the consent card.
It says my plan does not allow that. Proposal drafts count toward your plan's proposals for the month and leads toward your contacts, exactly as they do in the app. The assistant tells you which limit it hit.
Stuck? Contact support and say which assistant you are connecting and what the card or the assistant showed; we will get you going.
