A mini-session day, worked through
We lead with video because that is what we shoot, and most of what makes a film job work suits a photo job too. Here is a sample fall mini-session day.
| Item | Sample |
|---|---|
| Sessions | 12, 20 minutes each, back to back |
| Price | $275, with $100 to book |
| Booking | One link, each slot held for 15 minutes while they pay |
| Questions | Names, ages and outfit notes, asked at booking |
| Gallery | Each family gets its own, with 10 images included |
| Store | Extra images and a $150 package, with a discount code for repeat clients |
| Taken at the door | $3,300, before gallery sales |
The booking page sells each slot once. If a slot's payment times out, the slot opens again by itself. The money goes through your own Stripe account, and the invoice lands on your books with no typing.
From session to gallery
A wedding, a portrait or a brand shoot follows the same line.
- Inquiry. A contact form, or the booking page directly.
- Agreement. Photo starters cover several kinds of shoot, with photo contract clauses and a client print release.
- Payment. A deposit, a payment plan or the full fee, with autopay available if you turn it on.
- Proofing. The gallery has a PIN if you want it, sets (up to 60), favorites, lists, notes and submitted selections.
- Your edit. When a client submits a selection, press Copy filenames and paste them into Lightroom's filter. Their picks are all you see.
- Delivery. Download rules per gallery, a closing date with reminders, and a store.
What the gallery sells
Single photos, Buy all, up to 12 download packages and up to 200 discount codes, with sales tax worked out from the invoice rules you already set. Cutvey does not currently take a cut, and your Stripe account's fees apply. Print orders are yours to fulfill: Cutvey takes the order and the money, and you print and ship. There is no print lab connection today.
Gallery design has a live panel on the client's view for the cover, palette, type and grid, and a logo watermark in grayscale, white or black that can repeat diagonally. Settings save themselves as you go.
Registered gallery visitors become leads. That is one of the better uses of a wedding gallery, because the guests are future clients. A full plan never blocks a visitor, and you are told once a day if no lead could be saved.
RAW, video and music
RAW files (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF and RW2, up to 300 MB each) can sit in a gallery, with the location taken out of the file, or the file refused. A short video plays in Cutvey's own player. Your watermark text is burned in, and video is never for sale. One song plays on the slideshow, if you add one and hold the rights.
If you shoot both
This is the case Cutvey suits best. A couple's film review and their photo gallery sit in one portal, on one invoice and one contract. Read for wedding filmmakers.
Where Cutvey is not the right fit
If you only shoot stills, a photo-only platform costs less and has a free plan. Pixieset's galleries have had years of polish, and it has a website builder, which Cutvey does not. Read Cutvey and Pixieset for an honest side by side. One fair question is whether to move at all in the middle of a season. You do not have to. Book next season's sessions here, and let this season finish where it is. Galleries you have already delivered can stay put until their links run out.
Start with one job, and see whether your client notices the difference. If they do not, and your week is no lighter, you have lost nothing but a trial. Prices for Cutvey start at Solo, $49 a month or $29 billed yearly. Storage starts at 100 GB, and a busy photographer may want Pro's 500 GB.
