Renting out your gear: Cutvey and Booqable

Booqable is rental software first: a hosted booking page with live availability on every plan, unlimited products, and add-ons for a rental website, deliveries and point of sale. Cutvey rents gear out from the same kit list your own shoots use, on Pro and up, with a quote the renter signs and invoices for the rental and the deposit. Cutvey has no online storefront, so if renters should browse and book on their own, choose Booqable.

Who is renting, and how

There are two kinds of business here. A rental house lives on rentals: people find the gear online, check dates and book it, and the house's job is availability, delivery and turnaround. A production company rents its own kit out between jobs, mostly to people it already knows, who call or email first.

Booqable is made for the first. Cutvey is made for the second.

Checked November 2026 on Booqable's pricing page, which says yearly plans save 20%. The page does not label each figure, so we matched them to that saving. Every plan has unlimited inventory and orders. A rental website builder, deliveries, barcode scanning, point of sale and extra locations are add-ons.

Gear comes with every paid Cutvey plan, with no limit on items: Solo $49, Pro $99 and Studio $199 a month, or $29, $59 and $119 a month billed yearly. Renting gear out to others is on Pro and up.

Where Booqable is ahead

A renter can find your gear and book it without talking to you. Every plan has a hosted booking page with live availability and a way to put availability on your own site. The website builder add-on makes a whole rental website from templates. Bundles, cross-selling, deliveries and extra locations are there for a business that grows. If renting is the business, that is the right shape.

How a rental runs in Cutvey

  1. You build the order from your gear, with day rates, a week priced as a number of days, and a minimum number of days. Settings decide how weekends count.
  2. Sending the quote freezes the lines, the money and your rental agreement, and emails the renter a link.
  3. The renter reads the agreement and signs it on that page, with an audit trail of what was logged.
  4. Confirming makes two draft invoices: a refundable deposit, held as a liability so it never counts as income, and the rental itself with any damage waiver and tax.
  5. You send them, and the renter pays through the invoice's own link, into your Stripe account.
  6. You scan the gear out. If you ask for a certificate of insurance, a missing or expired one can warn you or stop the check-out.
  7. On return, late days and damage become a further draft invoice for you to send.

Because the rental is a booking on the same kit list, it clashes with your own shoots, and your shoots clash with it. A client marked do-not-rent cannot be given a new rental.

Bigger rental houses

Past a certain size, rental is warehouse work: many locations, crews to schedule, and a lot of stock moving every day. Two names come up often, and both price by the person.

  • Rentman lists a platform fee of €39 a month plus modules for inventory, crew and quoting, each priced by power user, with extra warehouses as an add-on. It is built around events and crew planning.
  • Current RMS lists $84.50 a month for the first user and $52.50 for each additional user, with warehouse management and barcodes, and a 30-day trial.

Cutvey is smaller than either of these on the rental side, and it is not a warehouse system.

When to choose Booqable

  • Renting gear is the business, or a big part of it.
  • Renters should book online without a phone call.
  • You want a rental website, deliveries or a counter with point of sale.
  • You are on Cutvey Solo, which does not include renting out.

Where Cutvey falls short

There is no storefront and no rental website, so every rental starts with you building the quote. There are no deliveries, no point of sale, and no stock moving between warehouses. Renting out needs Pro or Studio. The steps are in rent out your gear and certificates of insurance from renters.

Frequently asked

Can renters book my gear online in Cutvey?

No. Cutvey has no public rental storefront. You build the quote, and the renter signs it and pays the invoices from their links.

Which Cutvey plans can rent gear out?

Pro, Studio and Enterprise. Gear itself is on every paid plan.

Can I import my Booqable products?

Yes. The gear import recognizes a Booqable export by its headings, keeps barcodes as codes on each item, and checks every row before anything saves.
