How to use it
- Change the sample. Everything on the left updates the sheet on the right as you type. Press Clear the sample to start empty.
- Fill in the crew. Give each person their own call time, so nobody stands around for two hours.
- Look up the nearest hospital for your location, and put in the full address. Do it yourself and check it.
- Get sunrise and sunset for the place and date from the golden hour calculator.
- Press Print or save as PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print window, or press Copy as text and paste it into an email or a message. Send it the night before.
A section you leave empty stays off the sheet. There is no account, so there is nothing to come back to. Save the PDF or the .txt file.
What belongs on a call sheet
| Section | What to put | The mistake to avoid |
|---|
| General call | When the day starts | Only listing it, with no individual calls |
| Location | Name, address, parking, load-in | Giving a venue name with no address |
| Hospital | The nearest emergency room, with its address | Leaving it off because the shoot is "easy" |
| Weather and light | Forecast, sunrise, sunset | Using last week's forecast. Check it the night before |
| Schedule | Setups in order, with times and lunch | Forgetting lunch. Crews remember |
| Crew and talent | Role, name, phone, own call | Leaving the new person off |
| Notes | Client on set, wardrobe, permits, drone rules | Burying the one thing that changed |
The full guide is what is a call sheet. If you would rather work from a document, there is a call sheet template as plain text and as an Excel file.
When to send it
The night before is standard, and 48 hours ahead is kind. If something changes after you send, send it again, say what changed at the top of the email, and call anyone with an early call. An email at 10 PM does not reach a grip who went to bed at 9.
The sample in the form is made up, and so is every phone number. The (555) 010 numbers are reserved for fiction.
It makes one sheet. It does not know your crew, send anything, show who has read it, or look up the weather for you.
Those are the parts that take the time on a real job. In Cutvey the sheet fills from the crew you booked, the forecast, sunrise and sunset come in on their own, each person confirms with one tap, and a late change reaches only the people whose sheet changed. Crew are free and need no account.
Frequently asked
Is it really free?
Yes, with no signup and no watermark. The small line at the foot of the sheet names where it was made, and you can delete it from the text version.
Where does my data go?
Nowhere. The sheet is built in your browser. Nothing is saved on this site, in a cookie, or in your browser's storage.
Can I save a sheet and edit it later?
Not here. Close the tab and it is gone, which is what keeps it private. Save the .txt file, or take the call sheet template for a sheet you will reuse.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, and printing to PDF works from a phone's share or print menu.
