We show no Cheqroom price, because figures on review sites disagree with each other. See Cheqroom's own pricing page for current plans (checked November 2, 2026).
Gear comes with every paid Cutvey plan, with no limit on items: Solo $49, Pro $99 and Studio $199 a month, or $29, $59 and $119 a month billed yearly. Renting gear out to others is on Pro and up.
Where Cheqroom is strong
Its own pages describe people browsing what is available and booking it themselves, with an approval step where you want one. Availability is checked, a signature can be captured at check-out, and gear that does not come back on time is flagged. Items can be grouped into kits. Its app scans barcodes and QR codes to pull up an item and log its condition on return, and maintenance can run on a schedule with checklists and work orders.
That is a strong fit for a university media department, a broadcaster or a large in-house team, where many people borrow from one cage and the cage manager needs the paperwork to look after itself.
Gear in Cutvey, plainly
- Items, kits, places and bulk items with a count, each with a label carrying a QR code and a Code 128 barcode. Labels print on Avery 5160 sheets or on Brother, DYMO and Zebra rolls.
- Scanning with a barcode scanner, the Cutvey app on your phone, or the browser camera where your browser supports it.
- Every check-out is a booking. Before it is saved, Cutvey checks the dates against every other booking and flags a clash, counting a bulk item's quantity and every item in a kit. A person who may only request gear can book for themselves when you switch approvals on.
- Due and late reminders go to whoever holds the item, a team member or a crew member, on your studio's clock.
- Service tickets take an item out of use until it is fixed, and service schedules remind you before the date comes round.
- Stock-takes move nothing until you press Finish, and an item that is out with someone is never called missing.
- The money side (purchase price, value, warranty, the insurance schedule) is shown only to seats that can see money.
- Renting out, on Pro and up: quotes the renter signs, a deposit invoice and a rental invoice, and late and damage charges drafted from the return.
A tag scanned by a stranger opens a page that says nothing about who owns the item.
The difference that matters on a shoot
Cheqroom knows that the FX6 is out with Jordan until Thursday. Cutvey knows that too, and it also knows the FX6 is booked on the Coastal Realty brand film, which shoots Wednesday, which Jordan is on the call sheet for. If the shoot moves to Friday, the clash with Thursday's return shows up in the same place you moved it.
If your gear lives in a shared cage and is never tied to a client's job, that link means nothing to you. If every piece of kit goes out for a job, it saves a phone call a week.

Moving from Cheqroom
Export your items to a CSV and import them in Cutvey. The import recognizes a Cheqroom file by its headings and reads its dates month first. Up to 2,000 rows go in a file, every row is checked before anything saves, and any asset tag or barcode column is kept as a code on the item, so the stickers already on your cases keep scanning.
When to choose Cheqroom
- Many people borrow from one shared pool, and self-service is the point.
- You run a school, a broadcaster or a large in-house team.
- You need maintenance with checklists and work orders.
- Gear is all you need software for.
Where Cutvey falls short
There is no self-service kiosk, and the requester flow is simpler than a dedicated system's. It is built for a production company's kit, not a campus. The help center walks through it: set up your inventory, book and check out and import from Cheqroom.
Frequently asked
Will my Cheqroom barcodes still scan in Cutvey?
Yes. An asset tag or barcode column in the import is kept as a code on the item, so old stickers keep working beside Cutvey's own labels.
Does gear cost extra in Cutvey?
No. Gear comes with every paid plan, with no limit on items. Renting gear out to others needs Pro or Studio.
