Import gear from Cheqroom, Sortly or Booqable

If your gear is in a spreadsheet or another app, bring the whole list in at once. Your old stickers keep working: every number, tag and barcode in the file stays on its item and still scans.

Before you start

Export your list as a CSV file. From a spreadsheet, save or download it as CSV. From Cheqroom, Sortly or Booqable, use their export. A file can hold up to 2,000 items. Split a bigger list and import each part.

Import

  1. In Gear, open More and press Import a list. (You can also press Import a list on the first question Gear asks.)
  2. Choose your file. If it looks like a Cheqroom, Sortly or Booqable export, its columns are matched for you.
  3. Check Match your columns. Each column goes to a field, like Name, Serial number, Sticker, tag or barcode, Where it lives, Kit or Purchase price, or choose Leave out. One column must name each item.
  4. If some dates could be read two ways, like 03/04/2024, choose whether the file writes the month or the day first.
  5. Press Check the file.

Check before anything changes

Before you import shows how many items are new, how many are already in Gear and how many rows cannot be imported, row by row, with the reason. A row is already in Gear when one of its codes or its serial number is on an item. Choose Leave them as they are or Update them from the file.

New places, kits and vendors the file names are listed too, and are added with the import.

Then press Import. Nothing is saved until you do.

What to know

  • A sticker or barcode column is kept as one of the item's codes, up to 20 a row. Cutvey also gives each item its own number.
  • Prices, values and vendors are imported only by someone who can see money. For anyone else, those columns are left out and the import says so.
  • If Locations is off in Gear settings, Where it lives is left out.
  • If an import stops partway, run the same file again. What already landed is recognized and left as it is.
  • You can run up to 12 imports an hour.

Press Download the template for a blank file with the right headings, or Download your gear as CSV to export what you have.

What does not come across

Only the item list comes over: no booking history, check-out records, photos or attachments from your old app. Rental rates are set in Gear after the import.
