Cutvey vs. Táve (now VSCO Workspace)

Táve became VSCO Workspace after VSCO bought it in May 2025, and it now comes inside the VSCO One plan with editing and galleries. For an established photo studio that is a strong bundle. It has no crew, call sheets or timecoded review, so a company whose product is video needs more.

Where Workspace is strong

Job automation and reporting. Táve earned its name on granular lead reporting, flexible questionnaires and some of the most capable automations in the photo-studio world. Contracts fill from questionnaire answers, invoices and follow-ups go out after a contract is signed, and there is two-way texting in the US and Canada. VSCO One adds unlimited client galleries, editing tools and an education library.

Long-time users have systems tuned over years, and those systems work.

The gap for video

Like the other photo-first suites, it stops at the studio door. VSCO's Workspace feature list has no video features: no crew with day rates, no call sheets, no timecoded review, no version compare and no video delivery held for payment. If you are going to spend time setting up a system anyway, it may as well be shaped like your actual work.

What setup looks like

Táve's reputation is for power, and power takes hours. Long-time users will tell you their system took a season to tune: lead sources, job types, a chain of automations for every kind of booking. That investment is real, and it is a good reason to stay.

Cutvey takes the opposite trade. Your workspace starts with a sample project, one of everything, so you can open a call sheet or a review link before you have made your own. Proposal starters exist for brand films, corporate, commercials, weddings, music videos, documentaries, real estate, aerial work, social retainers and photography. Phases, crew, cuts and deliveries are already there. You change less, and you can change less.

For a video company, the time goes elsewhere. You enter your crew and their rates, because no CSV import exists for crew. You set up your rate card and one good proposal. Then you run a real job and fix what bothers you.

A photo studio with a tuned Táve system has already paid for its setup, and that cost is gone either way. A video company has not, and it would be paying for the wrong shape.

There is also the bill to think about. VSCO One is one yearly payment that covers editing, galleries and the studio manager for up to six people. If you use all of it, that is a strong deal for a photographer, and Cutvey will not beat it on price. Nothing in Cutvey edits a photo, and it will not replace your editing app. A studio that mostly shoots stills should keep that bundle, add a review link for the occasional film, and check back if the film work grows past a job or two a month.

When to choose Workspace

  • You run an established photo studio and video is a sideline.
  • You have years of automations you do not want to rebuild.
  • You want editing, galleries and studio management on one bill.
  • You run several brands under one roof.

Where Cutvey falls short

Reporting is simpler than Táve's lead reporting at its deepest. There are no two-way client texts and no editing tools, and one workspace is one brand. Automations will need rebuilding by hand. Táve has been at this for many years.

Is switching worth it?

Only if video is a real share of your business. Your clients and leads move by CSV in minutes. Your automations do not move, though the ones most studios build (booking flows, payment reminders, chasing a signature) are close to what Cutvey does out of the box. Run one real job through it before you touch the rest.
