Comparison

Cutvey vs. Pixieset for studios that shoot video

Pixieset is the better pick for a photographer who sells from galleries: it costs less, has a free plan and a website builder Cutvey lacks. If video is half your work or heading there, it has no timecoded review, crew or call sheets, and that gap shows up on every job.

Basic$10$810 GB
Plus$20$16100 GB
Pro$30$241 TB
Ultimate$50$40Unlimited

Pixieset lists Studio Manager, Website and Suite on separate pages that we could not read in November 2026, so we leave those prices out. Its Store takes 15% commission on Free and none on paid plans.

Cutvey plans: Solo $49, Pro $99 and Studio $199 a month, or $29, $59 and $119 a month billed yearly. Every plan has every stage of the job. Plans differ by people, projects, storage and limits.

Galleries on Cutvey come with every plan, and so do video review and the rest. A photo-only studio will pay less on Pixieset.

Where Pixieset is strong

Photo delivery. The galleries are polished, clients enjoy them and the store sells while you sleep. Mobile gallery apps, a website builder and a mini-session creator sit in the same family. Studio Manager covers contracts, invoices, booking and tap to pay on a phone. For a portrait or wedding photographer it is a strong package at a friendly price.

The gap for video

Pixieset was built around stills, and it shows the moment a job turns into a production. A client cannot click a frame at 01:23 and say swap this shot. There are no versions to compare, no count of revision rounds, no crew, no call sheets, and no budget with margin on the job.

Cutvey has galleries too: proofing, favorites, sets, download rules and a store with packages and discount codes, plus video and RAW files in the gallery. Those sit in the same project as the proposal, the call sheet, the cut under review and the invoice.

A wedding, both ways

A hybrid studio books a Saturday wedding with stills and a film. On Pixieset the couple gets a beautiful gallery, and it is the best part of their week. The film is another story. You need somewhere to send the first cut, a way to take "can you use the other grandma clip" without a long email, and a way to hold the final until the balance clears. That means a review link from one company and a delivery link from another, and the couple now has three places to look.

In Cutvey the couple's portal holds the contract, the invoices, the film under review and the gallery. Notes on the film are pinned to the moment. The gallery has favorites and proofing, and the selection comes back as filenames you can paste into Lightroom's filter. On the second shooter's side, they got a call time and a deal memo from the same place.

If you only ever deliver stills, none of that matters, and Pixieset is the sharper tool at a lower price. It is the film that changes the answer. Before you decide, count how much of last year's income came from video. If it was under a tenth, stay where you are and look again next year, when the numbers may have moved.

When to choose Pixieset

  • Photography is the business and print sales matter.
  • You want a free plan to start, or the lowest monthly bill.
  • You want your website and your galleries from one company.

Where Cutvey falls short

There is no website builder and no print lab connection. Gallery design has fewer ready themes than a company that has done only this for years. It costs more than Pixieset for a studio that only shoots stills. A video in a Cutvey gallery is never for sale, and it is never a cover.

The hybrid question

Shooting both? Keep your Pixieset galleries for now, and run one wedding through Cutvey's Weddings starter. If the film's review and the photo gallery sitting in one portal saves the couple an email or two, and saves you an evening, that is your answer. See for photographers and for wedding filmmakers.

Frequently asked

Can I sell prints from a Cutvey gallery?

Do RAW files work?

Yes: CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF and RW2, up to 300 MB each. The location is taken out of the file, or the file is refused.
