One week of driving
Monday is a location scout, forty minutes each way. Tuesday you pick up a lens package from the rental house. Wednesday is the shoot, with a company move between two locations at lunch. Friday the lenses go back.
With MileIQ, your phone notices each drive, and you swipe each one business or personal in the app.
With Cutvey, you turned on Track drives automatically once, in Settings > Mileage in the Cutvey iPhone app. The phone notices each drive and records it. By Friday the trips are waiting in Unreviewed on the Mileage page, each with its two ends named and its driver. The rental house is a saved place with a rule, so those two trips arrive already marked business and only need a look. You confirm them, mark the rest Business or Personal, pick a vehicle, add a purpose, and combine Wednesday's two legs into one trip if you like. You can do that on your phone or at your desk in the browser, because it is the same page.
Both logs end the week complete. Neither depended on your memory.

Checked November 2026 on MileIQ's pricing page. MileIQ for Teams has its own pricing page, which we did not read.
Cutvey costs more because it is the rest of your business software too. Nobody should move to Cutvey for its mileage alone. The useful question is the other one: once your jobs and your books are in Cutvey, do you still need a second app for the miles?
How tracking works in Cutvey
- The switch is yours. Each person turns tracking on for themselves, in Settings > Mileage in the Cutvey iPhone app. It is off until they do, and it is open to seats that can manage finances.
- The phone asks for location and motion the first time. The GPS runs during a drive, and short hops under your minimum trip length are dropped on the phone.
- The route stays on the phone. Only the two ends, the start and end times and the distance reach Cutvey. The path you drove is never uploaded.
- Each end gets a name, from one of your saved places when the trip starts or ends near it, or from the nearest address.
- Place rules file trips for you, so a drive to the rental house or the studio can arrive already marked business.
- Every tracked trip waits in Unreviewed with the name of the person who drove, until someone marks it Business or Personal.
Trips you add by hand still work as before. Calculate from start and end works out the road distance between two addresses, favorite places cut the typing, and Import trips takes a CSV. The value of business miles is worked out at the IRS standard rate for each trip's date, and it feeds the Schedule C summary and quarterly estimates in Books. Check both with your accountant.

Two kinds of mileage, kept apart
Cutvey has a second mileage log that MileIQ does not try to be. Miles logged on a project, at your own rate, are the miles you charge that client. The Books log, where tracked trips land, is for your tax deduction. They stay separate on purpose. A tracked trip does not become a charge on a client's job, so if you bill a client for travel, log it on the project as well.
When to choose MileIQ
- You carry an Android phone.
- You want mileage and nothing else, without a whole business system around it.
- Forty drives a month or fewer, and a free plan covers you.
- The people driving for you should not see your books. In Cutvey, tracking is open only to seats that can manage finances.
Where Cutvey falls short
Tracking is on iPhone only, and only for finance seats. There is no free plan. The value it shows is an estimate to plan with, and Cutvey files nothing.
