Sell downloads and prints
On this page
A gallery can be a small shop. Clients buy digital downloads, choose a download package or order prints, and the money goes to your own Stripe account.
Before you start
Connect Stripe in Settings > Payments. Until it is connected, clients cannot buy downloads or order prints, and the gallery tells you so. See Connect Stripe.
Sell digital downloads
- Open the gallery's Gallery settings.
- Turn on Sell digital downloads and set the price.
- Save the settings.
Clients can buy one photo, the photos they selected, or the whole gallery with Buy all. They pay through Stripe's checkout. After a paid order, the full-resolution originals are theirs to download. Before that, they see watermarked web previews.
Offer download packages
A package is a set number of photos for one price, or the whole gallery for one price.
- On the gallery, find Download packages.
- Give it a Package name, the number of Photos in the package and a Price. A 0 for the number of photos means every photo in the gallery.
- Press Add package.
A gallery can offer up to 12 packages. They show to your client once Sell digital downloads is on. Your client presses Download packages, picks a package, chooses the photos it holds, then pays. Removing a package takes it off the gallery, and orders already paid for it are kept.
Sell prints
- On the Galleries page, open Print price list and press Add print product for each size, for example an 8x10 print on lustre paper, with its price.
- In the gallery's settings, turn on Sell prints. Prices come from your print price list.
Clients order and pay through Cutvey. You print and ship every order through your own lab. Cutvey never prints or ships anything.
Discount codes
Codes live on the Galleries page, under Discount codes, and work in every gallery unless you pick one.
- Type the Code: 3 to 32 letters, digits, dashes or underscores. Capitals do not matter when your client types it.
- Choose the Discount: Percent off or Amount off.
- Choose what it Applies to: Downloads and prints, Downloads or Prints.
- If you like, set a Last day and the Uses allowed. Leave uses empty for no limit.
- Press Save code.
Your client enters the code in the gallery when they buy. It is checked when they see their total and again when they pay. A code with a use limit holds one use while an order waits to be paid, for about an hour. A refund does not give the use back.
To stop a code, switch it off. It is kept, because orders name it, and saving the same code again switches it back on. Saving a code you already have changes that code. You can keep up to 200 codes.
Sales tax
Gallery sales carry the same sales tax as an invoice on the gallery's project: the rate of the project's tax region, or your default rate in Settings > Tax. The prices you type are before tax. At checkout your client sees the subtotal, any discount, then the tax. A discount always comes off before the tax. With tax off, nothing is added.
Fulfill print orders
Each order lands in the gallery's Orders list with the shipping address and a fulfillment checklist. Mark each order as it moves, from sent to the lab to shipped, so your client knows where it is.
In the Cutvey app
Inside the Cutvey app for iPhone and iPad, digital buy buttons and packages are hidden. Print orders still work there, and everything works in a web browser.
