Free storage by archiving a project's media

To play smoothly, every review cut has streaming copies alongside the original. On a finished project you can let those copies go and get the space back. Your originals stay safe.

What it removes and what it keeps

Archive media removes the streaming copies of the project's review cuts: the playback versions, the HDR copy, the scrub strip and the poster frame.

It keeps:

  • Every original you uploaded.
  • Your final files and deliveries.
  • Galleries and the project's Files.

A cut that is also a final file keeps its copies, and cuts still processing are skipped.

Archive a project's media

  1. Open the project and press the gear for its Settings.
  2. Find Archive media. It shows how much storage it will free.
  3. Press the button to archive.

Review links stay open with all their notes and approvals, but the cuts will not play there. The Review list marks them Archived.

Bring the media back

Press Restore media. Cutvey rebuilds the streaming copies from your originals, which takes a little while. Restoring uses storage again, so it needs room on your plan.
