Check files against the delivery spec

Broadcasters, agencies and platforms often ask for exact specs. Cutvey can check each final file against the spec before your client ever sees it.

Set the specs

  1. Open the project and go to Deliver.
  2. Under Deliverable specs, add a spec: frame rate, audio, aspect ratio, resolution, duration and codec. Fill in only what matters for that deliverable.
  3. Give each final file the spec it should meet.

Read the result

Each file shows one of these:

  • Matches its spec.
  • Matches what we could check, when some of the spec could not be checked from the file.
  • Does not match its spec, with what differs.
  • Not checked yet, before the first check.

A part of the spec the file cannot answer reads "could not check", never a mismatch. When the file's details cannot be read at all, or nothing in the spec can be checked automatically, the row says so and asks you to check it by hand.

Press Check again after you replace a file.

Cutvey reads the details of MOV, MP4, WAV and BWF files from the file itself. For other files, such as MXF or MKV, it uses what it already knows about the file, like its picture size or running time, and the rest reads as could not check.

When a file does not match

Fix the export in your editing software, upload the new file, and press Check again. Your client only ever sees the files you choose to deliver.
