Your gear's insurance schedule and value
On this page
Gear knows what you own, where it lives and what it is worth, so it can hand your insurer a clean list and show which items earn their place.
Fill in the value
Open an item and its Value and insurance section:
- What it is worth: what it would cost to replace.
- What you paid, Bought on, Bought from and Warranty until.
- Insured: tick It is on our insurance.
Only people who can see money see or change this section.
Download the insurance schedule
In Gear, open More and choose Insurance schedule (PDF) or Insurance schedule (CSV). It lists each item with its number, name, make, model, serial, category, where it lives, whether it is insured, its value, the price paid and the day you bought it, with a total.
You can list every item you own, insured items only, or everything at one place. Items with no value or price set are counted and left out of the total, and the schedule says how many.
The schedule is for people who can manage projects and see money.
See what gets used
Use, in the More menu, shows each item's days out, days booked, bookings and fixes for this month, the last 3 months or this year, with the price paid, the value and the service cost beside it. It helps you see the lens that never leaves the shelf.
Link gear to your books
If your Books run in double-entry, an item's In Books section can Add to the asset register, which starts depreciating it on the register, or Link an existing entry. The name and serial come from the item, and the register keeps the money side. See Fixed assets and loans.
Gear never changes your books by itself, and the Taxes screens keep their own list.
Your insurance policies
The certificates and policies your studio holds (general liability, equipment, workers' comp) are kept under Insurance in Books, with expiry alerts. A renter's certificate of insurance is different: see Certificates of insurance.
