Make a moodboard and share it with your client

Every project has a moodboard: a free canvas for the look of the job. Collect references, notes and colors, then share it with your client for approval before the shoot.

Start a board

Open the project and go to Plan > Moodboard. Start from scratch, from one of Cutvey's starter boards (commercial, brand film and more), or from a board your team saved as a template.

Then add to it:

  • Drop images, clips or files anywhere on the board, or paste a link, an image or some text.
  • Double-click an empty spot to write a note.
  • From the add menu: a to-do list, a color swatch, a link, a video link, a column, a board inside the board, a sketch, a table, a document, a shape, a lighting and set diagram, a grade compare of two pictures, or an embed of a Spotify, SoundCloud or Loom link or a Google Maps place.

A column holds cards in a stack. A board inside a board is a way to give each scene or location its own space.

A card can link to the project's shots, locations, cast and gear, so the reference sits beside the thing it is for. A shot can show its moodboard references on the shot list.

Versions

Versions saves the board and every board inside it, so you can look back or put it back. A board keeps up to 50. Restoring saves the board as it is now first, so nothing is lost.

Share it with your client

Press Share for approval. Your client gets a link to the board. They can look around, react to a card, leave a comment, and then approve the board or request changes. You see the status on the board (Shared with client, Approved or Changes requested), and the board is on their portal to-do list.

Reply to a comment from the card. Your client reads the reply the next time they open the board. Your team can also leave internal notes on a card that the client never sees.

To take the board back, press Unshare. The link then answers as if it did not exist, until you share again with the same link. You can also add a password to the link.

What the client sees

Only what is on the board. Internal notes, studio-only step names and anything outside the board stay with your team. The client page stores nothing in their browser.

AI help

Under Assist, two things use Cutvey's AI, only when you press them:

  • Board from the brief reads the project's brief and lays out areas to explore, a palette, shot ideas and references to find. It uses 1 AI action.
  • Tag these pictures adds up to six film terms to each picture you select, up to 12 at a time, for 1 AI action. It sends a small copy of each picture to Cutvey's AI provider, so it is off until an admin turns it on in Settings > Data & Privacy.
