Send an invoice and get paid
An invoice in Cutvey is a page your client opens from an email. They can pay it right there by card, and the money goes to your own Stripe account. They never need an account.
Create the invoice
- Go to Books > Invoices and press New Invoice, or open a project and go to its Money section.
- Pick the client and add your lines.
- Set the due date.
Most invoices write themselves: signing a proposal raises the first invoice, and a retainer raises one each period.
Send it
The Sending panel holds who it goes to, any CC, and your message. Choose when it goes:
- Now, when I press Send, then press Send invoice.
- On a date and time, then press Schedule send.
The client gets an email with one button to view and pay. Once an invoice is sent, its Sending panel saves by itself.
When the client pays
The client gets a receipt, you get a notification, and the invoice is marked paid. If it was the last money owed on the project and the client has approved the cut, the delivery unlocks on its own.
If a client pays you another way, by check or bank transfer, press Record payment on the invoice so the balance and your books agree.
If it is late
Reminders go out on the schedule you chose in Settings > Payments. On any invoice you can also:
- Send a reminder now
- Pause reminders, and later Resume reminders
- Resend invoice
See Reminders and late fees to choose how firm the reminders sound.
