Autopay lets a client pay a retainer or the rest of a payment schedule without opening every invoice. It is off until you turn it on, and the client always chooses for themselves.

Turn it on

  1. Open Settings > Payments.
  2. In the Getting paid card, tick Let clients pay retainers and payment schedules automatically.
  3. Press Save.

What your client sees

On the first online payment of a retainer invoice, or of an invoice that is part of a payment schedule, the pay page offers a box to save their card or bank account and pay the rest automatically. The box shows the exact words they agree to, and Cutvey keeps a record of them.

If they tick it, the payment method is saved with Stripe on your account. From then on:

  • three days before each payment, they get an email saying when it will be charged
  • on the due date, the invoice is paid automatically
  • they get a receipt, as with any payment

If a payment fails

The client is sent the invoice to pay another way, the usual reminders take over, and you get a notification.

Turning it off

Your client can press Turn off automatic payments on the pay page, or turn it off in their client portal, at any time. You are told when they do.

You can turn it off for one client from the Automatic payments card on the client's page, with Turn off. Unticking the setting in Settings > Payments stops it for every client.
